Frequently Asked Questions

General Gameplay

  • Q. What is the objective of the game?

The objective of Donut Trumpet is to grow your real estate empire into a global phenomenon and build your empire value day after day.

  • Q. How do I build my empire?

Click on 'Buy Properties' in the app to load nearby places for you to buy. You can buy between 0.1% and 100% of each property. You can only buy properties near your current location. So get out and about and start building your empire.

  • Q. How do I earn money?

Each time someone visits your property in the real world and leaves a digital footprint you will earn rent in the game. But be careful, each day you must pay daily costs for your property regardless of how much rent you earn.

  • Q. What happens if I don't play for a while?

If you do not login for 28 days, then we will start selling your properties (some of them on the Marketplace) at the rate of 10% per day, per property. Therefore after 10 days you will not own any more properties. Logging in will stop this process and enable you to keep your properties.

  • Q. What should I do to get to next level?

Your level is increased depending on value of your properties. However, if you sell some of your properties, your level won't change.

Venue Prices and Rent

  • Q. How are property prices calculated?

Properties are valued depending on the category of the property and on the number of check-ins you can expect your property to receive. The more popular the property, the higher the price.

  • Q. How do property prices change?

The price of properties will change approximately every 24 hours depending on how their popularity has changed since the property was bought.

  • Q. If someone hasn't got Donut Trumpet, but checks-in to a property I own, do I get money for it?

Yes, you will earn rent for all check ins regardless of whether the user is a player of Donut Trumpet or not!

  • Q. What's a cash limit?

Cash limit says what's the maximum amount of money you can have on a given level. The higher level the higher the limit. You can temporary have more money than your limit if you sell a property or win a prize. In such situation you will not be able to collect any rent and will have to pay costs, unless you spend your money investing in something.

  • Q. I get no rent! Why?

Most probably it's because of the cash limit. Invest your money in something, so you have it less than the limit. The other possibility is that there's an error due to changes in one of our data sources. Please make a screenshot of such a venue and send it to us.

  • Q. I bought more shares of my own property and I lost more money than I should have.

If you spend all your money on additional shares of your own property your balance may become negative. This is because you have to pay the costs for the already owned shares. The costs that you are going to pay in the future will be based on the shares that you have right now (including the % of shares that you bought).

  • Q. What are Special Venues?

Special Venues are properties that cost money and coins. Usually those are very famous and popular places with a lot of check-ins.

Cash and Coins

  • Q. What is the difference between cash and coins?

Cash is used to buy property and rent and costs are paid in cash. Coins can be used to purchase upgrades to boost rent, purchase skills and complete the legal paperwork immediately when you buy a property.

  • Q. How do I get coins?

You can get coins in following ways: - You can get coins by levelling up, - You can purchase coins from the bank, - You can earn coins by watching ads, - You can find coins hidden in properties you visit (coming soon).

Property Offers

  • Q. What are property offers?

Anyone can make an offer for a property that another player owns. The owner can then accept or reject the offer.

  • Q. How do I make an offer?

You can make an offer by clicking on a property near you in the 'Buy Properties' screen and then clicking on 'view shareholders'. You can also view the shareholders of properties you own by going to your Portfolio, clicking on a property, and then selecting 'view owners'. Once you see the list of owners, clicking on one will bring up the offer screen, where you can select the amount of shares you'd like to make an offer for and the amount you are willing to offer.

  • Q. Do I have to offer market value?

Unlike on the Marketplace, the offer doesn’t need to be equal to the initial value of the property. However you cannot propose less than 80% of the market value.

  • Q. What is the difference between Property Offers and the Marketplace?

Property Offers allow you to make an offer for any owned property in the game regardless of whether the owner wants to sell the property. The Marketplace shows properties that the seller has advertised for sale.

  • Q. What is the Marketplace?

The Marketplace shows properties than Donut Trumpets have decided they want to sell to other players, rather than selling the property back to the bank. It shows properties from all over the world, not just near you, but only if a player has previously bought a property and is wishing to sell it.

  • Q. How do I list my property for sale on the Marketplace?

Click on your property from the Portfolio screen and click on 'Sell Property'. Then select 'List on Marketplace'. You can choose how many shares to list for sale on the Marketplace by moving the slider, the same way you would when selling to the bank.

  • Q. How do I buy a property on the Marketplace?

When a player lists a property for sale on the Marketplace, the listing lasts for 6 hours. During this time, anyone is able to make a bid, and at the end of the 6 hour period the player who has bid the most for the property will buy it from the player selling. You need to pay 5 coins for each bid you want to make. Each bid postpones the deadline for 5 minutes.

  • Q. Do I have to offer market value?

Yes, the initial bid on the Marketplace has to be at least the market value, and once bids have been received, always higher than the current highest bid.

  • Q. What are upgrades?

Upgrades can be bought for the properties you own to increase the amount of rent given. Upgrades are specific to the category of property. For example, you can't buy a pub quiz item for a football stadium!

  • Q. If I buy upgrades, do I receive the coins back when I sell the property?

No. Once you have bought an upgrade you will not get coins back when you sell the property.
